She stood alert as the shadows danced
And grasses sang of the hearty earth
And giving rains while the sun romanced
Worn-out lands with its brutal mirth.

She waited, firm, as the time slipped past
And twilight crawled through the underwood
Her drive was love, and her guard was trust
And so forbearingly she stood.

And then he came – like a thunderstorm
Intensely eying her graceful stance
And none retreated, and none conformed
And so in circle they smoothly danced.

Through time they'll dance to the end of days
And help us find our genuine ways.
